2020 GLS Technology Features and Safety Systems
The Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) multimedia system equips the 2020 GLS with two 12.3-inch large touchscreens fitted in the dash. One of the large touchscreens sits behind the steering wheel to display digital gauges and important driving information and the second sits in the center of the dash. The MBUX technology allows drivers to control all of their vehicle’s comfort features right from the driver’s seat. Voice Control technology makes interacting with the MBUX system safer by allowing drivers to keep both hands on the wheel and their eyes on the road. Drivers are also able to use simple hand gestures with the MBUX system to control various features, such as turning the reading lamp on and off, in the 2020 GLS.
The available full-color Head-Up Display projects important vehicle and trip information on the dashboard to help drivers stay even more focused on the road. Active Stop-and-Go assist helps to keep the GLS in its lane and keep a safe distance between your GLS and the vehicles ahead. This system can quickly accelerate back to the set speed after a stop in traffic and it can even prioritize posted speed limits.
One of the new standard features on the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS is the Carwash function that helps make getting your vehicle clean easier. When Carwash is engaged the vehicle’s suspension will move to the highest position, exterior mirrors will fold in, the sunroof and windows will be closed, the windshield wiper rain sensors will be disengaged, the climate control system will be switched into air-recirculation mode, and the 360-degree camera’s front image will be activated to help the driver drive into the carwash. Once drivers exit the carwash and accelerate to above 12 mph these settings will be automatically deactivated.
