While we are always excited about refined new models like the 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class and 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS, there’s something special about the release of a new Mercedes-AMG® model. For 2019, we can expect three new AMG® models with the new “53” designation. Keep reading to explore the new design and powertrain of the 2019 Mercedes-AMG® CLS and two-door E-Class.
Powertrain of the 2019 Mercedes-AMG® CLS and Two-Door E-Class
The 2019 Mercedes-AMG® CLS 53, 2018 Mercedes-AMG® E-Class 53 Coupe , and 2018 Mercedes-AMG® E-Class 53 Cabriolet will all come with a 3.0-liter six-cylinder inline engine equipped with EQ Boost electrification system. The gasoline engine itself offers 429 horsepower and up to 384 pound-feet of torque. In situations that demand an increase in power and acceleration, the EQ Boost can offer an additional 21 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque.
This engine comes mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission. These models will be able to burn from 0-60 mph in just 4.4 seconds (CLS 53, E 53 Cabriolet) or 4.3 seconds (E 53 Coupe) and will have an electronically limited top speed of 130 mph.
53-Series Design Cues and Features
While the CLS, E-Class Coupe and E-Class Cabriolet will each bring different design and interior features to the road, each model in the 53-series will also share a common design language. A twin-blade radiator grille, AMG® side sill panels, an A-wing designed front bumper and a rear bumper inset with a diffuser and a round high-gloss chrome tailpipe are a few notable style highlights.
Other high-value features that will be available on these models include a digital driver instrumentation cluster with customizable themes, a standard AMG® Performance steering wheel, AMG® DYNAMIC SELECT drive modes, and the AMG® RIDE CONTROL+ air suspension. These models will also be available with many of the elite driver assistance features that were first available on the 2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class flagship sedan.
We don’t know yet when the 2018 Mercedes-AMG® CLS, E-Class Coupe, and E-Class Cabriolet might be available on our lot here in Houston TX. Contact a member of the Star Motor Cars sales team to get personalized updates about these models.
